Activity Day Darts 2014 [15-07-2014]
Darts Club, once again formed part of Sponne School Activity Days for 2014. For three days, students of Sponne School are off timetable to experience a wide range of enrichment opportunities.
On Tuesday 15th July, the club held a darts tournament, open to all students. We had 10 sign-up, including three students who were not club members!. Also taking part were members of staff SC, AMN and SM. |
The day began with a quick health and safety briefing; to get all students up to speed with darts club and then it was time for the draw. The players were then drawn into two groups It was then time for darts, and students were fantastic, very supportive of each other, and helping to schedule games to keep the tournament running.
Moment of the day came from Dan Owens, with a huge 123 checkout (T19, S16, Bull) which he nearly improved upon hours later; as he went T19, S19 and just wired his final dart at the bull.
Following the group stage, the top two students went into the final, with the next best placed, battling for a bronze medal. Capturing 3rd with a 2-0 victory was Conor Frost, beating Shannon Lock. In the final, Dan Owens managed to fight back from 2-0 down, to deafeat Tom Carter by 3-2.
The club would like to thank the students for an enjoyable day, as well as AMN and SM for their support.
