Sponne School Darts Shield 2012 [06/10/12]

Dan "THE MAN" Owens became the first ever winner of the Sponne School Darts Shield on Saturday 6th October 2012.
25 Sponne School students engaged in a day of darts at Rileys, Gold Street Northampton. Making use of their professional, 6-lane, darting facility
The day kicked off at 10am, with players arriving to gain some pre-tournament practice, giving Mr. Cornelius chance to setup in his role at tournament co-ordinator and MC.
At 10.30am, all 25 players were set, and the draw was made. Seeded players from last year were placed into groups, followed by the rest of the students... and then the tournament could get underway. Games were played 301, best of three in the group stages, increasing to best of 5 and 7 in the knockout rounds. The day went smoothly, with Rileys staff most complimentary about the students, both in their behaviour and ability on the oche.

- Most Improved Player........ Craeg Doggett (Starting to climb the rankings at a good rate!)
- Most Promising Debutant........ Harry Wharton (A year 7, in his first darts tournament, only narrowly missing out on qualifying for the group stage)
